Apex reception and café – a place to meet, eat and spend time
Over the coming weeks, the new reception, lobby and café at the Apex will start to take shape. Contractor Area is working with Reef to bring the earthy and dynamic design concept by Anomaly to life, creating a front door and gathering space for tenants and community.
Set across a split-level ground floor, the reception and lobby will create a welcoming frontage onto St Pancras Way, flowing into an upper level café on the canal. The spaces will be generous and high ceiling to maximise the outlook and flood the interior with natural light.
The café with its rich and deep tones will feel intimate and cosy; a flexible and functional design will allow the space to seamlessly move from daytime meeting and eating into evening drinks and events. Through the glazed façade the spaces will interact with the surrounding street life, inviting people in and creating a bustle in the neighbourhood.
A strong sustainability focus has underpinned the design, which prioritises recycled, recyclable and reclaimed materials. Antique and vintage furniture will combine with new pieces to create an eclectic feel with a unique and homely personality.
